Richard W. Brown
Richard W. Brown, CCIM, has been in the real estate business in the Mid Atlantic region for more than 30 years. After a successful career with the Shannon & Luchs Company from 1980-1987, Rick opened the US division of Trikon International, an Australian development company in Washington, DC in 1987. The firm acquired properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic region including the annexation and development of 140 acres in Frederick County, MD; a 14 property assemblage on Massachusetts Ave; a luxury condo development on Pennsylvania Ave and one of the first acquisitions in NoMa, a warehouse at 1st and M Streets, NE, in 1989.
In the mid 90's, Rick opened the Washington office of the Marcus & Millichap Investment Real Estate Company and later joined the Reznick Group in Bethesda, MD.
In 2004, Rick opened his own firm, Rick Brown & Associates, LLC, to acquire, co-sponsor and manage Tenant in Common (TIC) transactions in the Mid-Atlantic region. Merging into B&B Realty Investments, LLC in 2007, the company has acquired and is a co-sponsor in over $225,000,000 of office and retail properties.
In 2008, B&B Realty Investments, LLC completed the largest TIC transaction in the country with the $57,800,000 acquisition of the 271,500 sf Alexandria Corporate Park in Alexandria, VA. That same year, the firm acquired the 224,000 sf Bradford & Berrington Center in Raleigh, NC for $34,500,000. B&B manages these assets, while achieving 98.5% occupancy in 2009.
Rick has served in leadership positions in the real estate industry including Regional Vice President for the National Association of Realtors, Dean of the Realtors Institute and National Chairman of the Realtors Political Action Committee. Rick was named the "Realtor of the Year" by the Washington, DC Association of Realtors in 1990 and as the national "Community Service Leader of the Year" by the National Council on the Aging (1990) and has served for many years as a youth coach and Scout leader.
